THE
BEACH AND DUNES:A NATURAL AND TOURISTIC RESOURCE
Formentera
lives off its natural patrimony, its magical landscapes, but above all off
its beaches and dunes, wich attract thousands of peolpe. A natural patrimony
and touristic resource are the same thing; protecting the environment means
protecting the island's economy, and developing local economy means conserving
its natural
environment. |

A
CONVERSATION PROJECT
Techniques
have been used to avoid the main impacts, organising the walking areas,
cutting down acces to sensitive areas, restoring the dunes and repopulating
them with different plants. These actions have been put into practice in
the Illetes, Llevant, Mitjorn beaches and in the isle of Espalamdor, in
three phase which were begun in June 1998. |
